P009 → Gods We Made
The Gods we made
This project aims to question the authenticity of historical narratives and how belief systems shape our understanding of the past. By using the method of cross-media alchemy, constructing artefacts that appear both organic and artificially distorted.
If history is often curated, manipulated, or even fabricated to serve specific narratives, I can just question it, and make it.
In my works, these creatures are neither real entities nor direct projections of any known culture; they are pure fiction. However, viewers still unconsciously try to ascribe meaning to them, which is exactly what I want to explore: how do we construct beliefs without any basis?
From the perspective of posthumanism archaeology, these fake archaeological handwriting can also be seen as some form of "posthuman" entity. Unlike traditional deities, they are more like the products of failed genetic experiments or some kind of life form generated by data but not fully loaded. This "incomplete" state makes them both fragile and mysterious, just like our historical narratives—they are never linear but filled with breaks, misunderstandings, and reconstructions.
